Climathon is a global, 24-hour climate change event which will take place simultaneously in major cities around the world. It brings together the challenges of the world’s cities with the people who have the passion and ability to solve them. Participants gather for 24 hours to engage in a climate-related problem solving workshop. Citizens around the world take direct climate action in their own cities by coming up with innovative solutions to local climate change problems.
The Sydney Climathon Challenge
Sydney: Are we EV Ready?
How to get micro-communities to adopt electric vehicle use?
The aim of Climathon Sydney is to explore how we can increase the uptake of electric vehicles in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. Our focus is on the Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, and we will be conducting it in partnership with Waverly Council, Woollahra Municipal Council and Randwick City Council.
We will be working around the following key questions:
- What incentives can be provided by the local governments to encourage electric vehicle uptake?
- What is the best solution to rolling out a charging infrastructure?
- What commercial opportunities can be explored and captured?
